Misc.

Misc. is a collection of comics I drew from 2018 to 2019. Surreal slice-of-life ramblings. Featuring myself and the Insomnia Monster, a creature inspired by @Tashi_Rd’s Monster & Me diaries, back when I read them in 2017 before they were even comics.

The first half of this comic collection was originally published as Somnium #1, versions of the second half were originally published as Somnium #2. These zines were sold on my old instagram account “@hatboymakesart” (Back when I was still a boy); sold at Blu Fish gigs across the North Island; and sold at Auckland Zinefest 2019 when I tabled there for the first time with Rat World‘s Jennifer Cheuk (@Selcouthbird).

I’ve been selling this weird collection of pen comics (Only pen, no pencil used even to draw roughs) that I drew in two old journals as Misc. since 2021. Alright, enough rambling, these comics are weird, and I’m insecure about them. But they were my first foray back into making comics as an adult, and I wouldn’t be making comics now without them. Also potential trigger warning if you don’t like spooky hauntings, because there’s a 10-page section towards the beginning that features something that really happened and I can’t explain.

  1. Hello! I know this is kind of off-topic but I
had to ask. Does running a well-established blog such as yours require
a massive amount work? I’m brand new to running a blog but I
do write in my journal daily. I’d like to start a blog so
I can easily share my personal experience and thoughts online.
Please let me know if you have any ideas or tips for brand
    new aspiring blog owners. Thankyou!
